On April 22-23 at the Annual IAT Council Meeting in Halifax-Dartmouth, Greenland joined the International Appalachian Trail as the 7th official chapter. In attendance from Greenland were IAT Greenland Director René Kristensen and his Greenlander hiking friend Hans Gundel.
The two-day event started with cocktails (i.e. beers) and fine dining (i.e. pub grub) at the Celtic Corner steak house (i.e. local pub) in Dartmouth, followed by an awe-inspiring slideshow from René and Hans showing highlights of their 2009 two-week trek of the Nuusuaq Peninsula in Western Greenland, location of the new IAT Greenland.
Other items on the Council Meeting agenda included IAT branding, slideshow and website, IAT expansion to Western Europe, Chapter updates, and promotional opportunities.
Once again we thank Debra Ryan and Hike Nova Scotia for treating us to the Council Meeting lunch, and IAT Nova Scotia's Ellen "Twisted Sister No. 2" Wilcox for planning the annual meeting and hosting the official reception (i.e. pub crawl). To René and Hans, we're happy to have you join the IAT family, and look forward to visiting Greenland: IAT Extreme!

And don't forget to dust off your hiking gear
....it's soon that time of year!
